The New Imperial Social Club was formed many years ago in Victoria by a group of people wanting a place to dance and socialize. A live band has been a feature of our dances since the club's inception. At each dance it has also been traditional to have two raffles - a 50/50 draw and a draw for 4 bottles of alcohol. It is also a tradition to have one or two spot dances.
The location of the dances has changed throughout the years but for the past several years we have been using the Chief and Petty Officers' Mess in Esquimalt. It is an excellent dance facility with a large wooden floor, cash bar, and wonderful view.
The club is run by a volunteer committee, elected annually by the members at the annual general meeting. The committee meets about 4 times a year and their main task is to organize the dances. Any member is welcome to serve on the committee.
